Examination Information

The Course

This book has been designed to cover all of the learning outcomes for the latest Pearson Edexcel International GCSE syllabus for examinations from 2019 onwards (1st teaching in September 2017). You should be aware that the syllabus can vary slightly from year to year

Examination Structure

The assessment for the Edexcel International GCSE in Physics is linear. Students sit Paper 1 (2 hours) and Paper 2 (1 hour 15 minutes).

  • Paper 1 and paper 2 assesses material marked with this symbol.
  • Paper 2 assesses material marked with this symbol.

Students studying for the Edexcel International GCSE in Science (Double Award) sit Paper 1 in Physics as well as Paper 1 in Chemistry and Biology.

The papers contain multiple-choice questions, short-answer structured questions and some questions requiring longer answers. You will be assessed on your knowledge and understanding and on your ability to apply that knowledge and understanding.

You may be required to describe experiments and analyse and evaluate data, including drawing graphs and performing calculations.

I cannot provide past papers for you through this site (so please don't ask me!) since Pearson Edexcel International Examinations owns the copyright to these documents.

Past papers and mark schemes are available to download from the Edexcel website. Examiners reports are also very useful as they can help you to identify where other students made common mistakes, so that you can avoid making them too.

Your teacher may also have access to other past papers.

Click on the link below and you will be re-directed to the Resource Centre of Edexcel's website where you will be able to download papers, mark schemes and examiners' reports.
